Because yesterday I finally spent yet more money buying journals I don’t “need,” and a calligraphy nib for my favorite fountain pen, I decided to document my beloved mini collection of journals. For the record (aka of course), most of them are unused.
This is going to be a (more) boring (than usual), self-indulgent post, so feel free to close this page and get some tea, I’ll see you around, mate!
The Paperblanks:
Each of these journals makes me feel like I’m holding a mysterious object. Their textures and details are exquisite, but the paper tends to let the ink bleed through the pages. I’ll continue buying their products though because they are stunning. I’ve written some notes on the small ones and they are a joy to hold.
Bonus: The NaNoWriMo gifts: because I have a journal hoarding problem and needed to justify the purchase (also: Black Friday. Don’t judge me, I PROMISE THEY HAD A NICE DISCOUNT!)
The Sweet & Sour rando:
This dark green one has a velvet cover and reads “stuff.” The pages are a light hue of red. I don’t have to explain why I purchased it.
The ultra-cheap ones:
Clouds and golden stars plus two ribbon markers: it’s self-explanatory.
An alpaca who has never known who you are—and won’t even bother to ask.
I’ve used this one the most and, surprisingly, it works well with fountain pens.
The glitter one:
This one is a scrapbook from Paperchase. The paper feels rougher than I’d like it to be, but I’m here for the glitter (and I won’t hear your judgment). I’ll do some character sketches on this one during the upcoming months.
The one that makes me feel like a “real” writer:
I bought this Leuchtturm1917 yesterday, mostly because I want to write by hand and have heard that this is the best notebook for said purpose (and excellent with fountain pens). I don’t love the black cover, but I was drawn to it at the store. I’m curious about this one but won’t open it until I’m ready to start writing that particular story (that is, until next year).
Bonus: of course I bought three more during Black Friday, and I refuse to feel guiltier about it. HAVE YOU HELD ONE OF THESE MIGHTY, BEAUTIFUL WORK HORSES IN YOUR HANDS!? HAVE YOU RUBBED YOUR FINGERS OVER THEIR LUSH, SOFT PAGES? NO? Please do, these notebooks are beyond judgment.
